Our magazine: Our difference
|
 |
| |
The magazine of The Gay Publishing Company
is the backbone of what makes us different. In the magazine, we provide regular installments, or pieces, of edited, professional quality, gay-themed writing—and we deliver each issue to your electronic inbox or physical mailbox, whichever you prefer.
Publishing in piecesor, serializing, to use the technical termwas common in the 1800s as a way of delivering stories to readers. For instance, nearly all of the major works from Charles Dickens were written and published in serialized pieces before being collected later and sold as books. The Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first appeared in issues of The Strand Magazine. In addition, Jack London’s White Fang first appeared in several months of The Outing Magazine. And, more recently, Stephen King first released The Plant as a serial; in fact, it, along with Douglas Clegg’s Naomi, was one of the first 'e-serials'!
Each issue of our magazine will contain
complete submissions of flash fiction and short stories;
serialized installments of longer submissions—
scenes from scripts and screenplays, for example,
chapters from novels, and
sections of memoirs; as well as
some poetry; and
hand-drawn or computer-generated illustrations from
international artists.
In addition to receiving the magazine,
subscribers have complete access to the archive of past stories
published by The Gay Publishing Company;
subscribers get occasional, unannounced specials and discounts
on our reading and watch lists gay-themed books and audio and
video selections from around the world;
subscribers get occasional, unannounced specials and discounts
on merchandise in our soon-to-open virtual shop; and
subscribers automatically receive our e-newsletter,
to let you know what's new and improved at
The Gay Publishing Company.
And, we will soon publish our magazine in two different formats . . .

Virtually, or electronically . . .
|
 |

Our virtual magazine (the electronic version)
will be e-mailed to subscribers. Each issue will contain the same features as the print magazine—the biggest difference being that the virtual magazine can be read online (with links to more information and author interviews) or with any of the major e-reading devices. Special large-type versions and audio excerpts will also be a standard part of the virtual magazine—at no extra charge, of course!

. . . and in print
|
 |
| |
For readers who feel the need to
grasp, earmark, highlight, fold, and share the very fabric that has represented publishing for centuries, we have a print version of our magazine, too. Printed, paper versions of the magazine will be mailed to a physical address in blind packaging and will contain the same stories as the virtual magazine. You'll also have access to the same features by visiting the Web site.
