  General Contest Rules

From time to time,

The Gay Publishing Company will sponsor contests to help spark activity between members/subscribers and to help attract new visitors to the Web site. In all contests (unless specifically stated otherwise), theGayEditor and the advisory board of The Gay Publishing Company will maintain final approval over contestants and winners. Arbitration will be considered if evidence presents reason for reconsideration.

1. No purchase is necessary. Neither purchasing a product nor joining or subscribing to publications produced by The Gay Publishing Company will improve anyone's chances of winning any contest.
2. Unless specifically stated elsewhere, all contests are open to anyone. Number of entries per person or organization or per contest may be limited by The Gay Publishing Company.
3. Entrants must be over eighteen years of age (or the legal age of majority in the entrant's state of residence if such age is greater than eighteen) at the time of entry. Any entrant under the age of 18 must furnish written proof of permission to enter from a legal parent or guardian. Any minor without permission who is selected as a winner will be disqualified; in such a case, another winner may be selected. Any prize won by an entrant who is deemed to be a minor in his or her state of residence will be forfeited without restitution or refund.
4. All contests are governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply to all contests and contestants. Contestants are responsible for determining where contests are prohibited by law.
5. Without exception, contest guidelines and instructions for sanctioned, sponsored contests are provided on  the Contest page  of this site or on a page whose link originates from that page.
6. All entries and entry fees, if any, must be received by 11:59 pm ET (GMT -5) on the deadline date. All entries must be complete. If entries do not contain all necessary information, entrant may be disqualified. The Gay Publishing Company is not responsible for lost, destroyed, delayed, incomplete, postage-due, illegible, or misdirected materials. Entry fees are not refundable or transferable to subsequent contests.
7. Unless individual contest rules specify otherwise, entries/submissions must be the original work of the entrant. All legal entries with appropriate waivers and permissions will become the property of The Gay Publishing Company.
8. In the event two or more substantially similar entries are received, the entry received first will be considered to be the original entry.
9. Prizes will be specified in contest rules; no substitutions or negotiations for other, alternate prizes or monetary equivalents at the request of a winner will be considered. In general, prizes are not transferable, cannot be assigned, substituted, or redeemed for cash. No more than the stated number of prizes will ever be awarded. Prizes will be awarded only if a sufficient number of qualified contestants pay the fees and enter a contest. The Gay Publishing Company reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the unlikely event that a stated prize is unavailable for any reason. 
10. A minimum of three attempts will be made to notify prize winners by phone, e-mail, and/or mail. Prize winners may be posted at http://www.TheGayPublishingCompany.com. By entering, all entrants agree that their first name, last name, and other information may be published at any time during the course of or after any contest, except where prohibited by law. Accommodation will be made for entrants who do not want their full, legal names published.
11. Arrangements for redeeming prizes must be made within thirty days of the winning announcement. Prizes are considered forfeited if not claimed by 11:59 pm ET (GMT -5) on the thirty-fifth day. The return of any prize notification (or prize) as undeliverable may result in disqualification and possible selection of an alternate winner.
12. The Gay Publishing Company reserves the right to terminate the contest or modify its rules at any time without prior notice, for any reason or no reason. All judging decisions are final and binding on all matters relevant to any contest. Unless specifically stated elsewhere, one winner will be selected.
13. By entering a contest, participants agree to release and hold harmless The Gay Publishing Company, its divisions and subsidiaries and its parent entity; all affiliates (and each of their agents, officers, employees, licensees, and similar parties); and all directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries or loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with any contest or the use of any prize won.
