Our current but ever-evolving
business plan calls for quite a bit of activity. Below, we've outlined a few of the basic ideas that we have in store. If you are interested in a more complete, more professionally done business plan or if you are interested in helping to fund our growth, please contact theGayEditor at The Gay Publishing Company and request a copy. You can also review the current Executive Summary.
Our first order of business is to establish an online e-newsletter that will be circulated to subscribers, alerting them to new offerings on the site. This e-newsletter will provide short teasers, a few sentences or a paragraph, before linking back to that offering's main page on the Web site, where the complete offering can be printed out or read onscreen.
As soon as funding is secured, we will begin to edit submissions and start publishing them in our virtual magazine, which will contain complete flash fiction pieces, entire short stories, and chapters of full-sized submissions. The magazine will also be illustrated with submitted artwork from an array of international artists.
Eventually, by the end of 2009 if our current plans hold true, our goals call for us to expand to a print version of this magazine that will be distributed to subscribers who wish to pay a slight premium for it (to cover the additional costs of printing and distribution). The virtual and print magazines will be our primary income vehicle; the original e-newsletter will remain free to registered users and site visitors.
Finally, we anticipate that our first book will be published by the middle of 2010. Of course, that primarily depends on when and whether funding becomes available—it is hoped that the money and audience might be ready before that time. If so, we'll be ready, too!
And, along the way, we also hope to initiate our author scholarship fund and
a "Teaching Acceptance" program, both key components to our total mission. We will have some fun stuff, too, like our "Wacky Wiki Story" (or two), which we hope to introduce mid-year in 2010.
That, then, is our plan in the proverbial nutshell. Together with providing outlets for our authors and products for our readers, what more could we do? If you have an idea, please let us know.
If you have more questions, please explore the site for information and answers. If you don't find what you're looking for, contact us. Then, before you move on, please help support our plan—sign up for our e-newsletter or subscribe to our magazine. Either will be a BIG help!
